Princes Park Stadium (Dartford FC)

I'm a visitor from Canada and enjoying salsa dance events while I'm here in England. This event was very friendly, even before we found the place people downstairs were helpful to let us know where the event was being held (UPSTAIRS!). The whole night was about ppl smiling and having fun. The lessons were just finishing as we arrived. This is a big difference from the salsa in Canada. In Canada, for the most part, salsa dances and salsa lessons are quite separate. If the events do include lessons it is usually one level: beginner. The regular dancers show up after the lesson finishes. When people want to improve they take lessons with a salsa school. The music was very good, though there were a couple of songs where I found it hard to follow the rythms, which were jazzy; complex and syncopated. I'm an intermediate dancer and big fan of "cowbell" salsa music hahaha...easy to follow! But all in all the DJ played some great salsa songs and many old school favourites! The sound system itself was very good, the music clear throughout and just the right level, not so loud that you couldn't speak to the person you were dancing with. Bravo DJ! The venue itself had a very nice floor, easy to spin at the beginning of the night. My one negative comment is that people were carrying drinks across the floor and they spilled so by the end of the night the floor in places was sticky. A couple of ladies I danced with complained about it. The level of dancing was fairly high. There were some very good dancers there. An attempt was made to divide the venue in half and have the more advanced dancers at one end. But there were relative beginners there also, so it didn't really work out that way. There was plenty of seating and convenient to the floor, a very good set up in that respect.
