EMU Event Management UK are working in partnership with Revolución De Cuba bringing you EMU DJ Academy. You will start your DJ career learning from some of the best club DJs in the industry, at the end of the 8 week training course you will deliver a 30 minute set at Revolución De Cuba in front of friends, family and the general public. 

What will you expect?

Lesson 1: Introduction to DJing

• Objective: Understand what DJing is and the different styles.

• Content: History of DJing, types of DJs (club, mobile, radio), basic DJ equipment overview (turntables, mixers, controllers, software).

Lesson 2: Getting to Know Your Equipment

• Objective: Familiarize with the basic DJ setup.

• Content: Detailed look at turntables, mixers, and controllers. Setting up your equipment, connecting everything

Lesson 3: Basics of Music Theory

• Objective: Learn the fundamentals of music theory relevant to DJing.

• Content: Beats, bars, and phrases. Understanding tempo (BPM), key, and song structure.

Lesson 4: Beatmatching

• Objective: Learn how to match the tempo of two tracks.

• Content: Using the pitch fader, identifying the beat, practicing manual beatmatching with headphones.

Lesson 5: Phrasing and Cueing

• Objective: Learn how to start and stop tracks in sync.

• Content: Understanding phrasing, setting cue points, using headphones to pre-listen.

Lesson 6: Mixing Basics

• Objective: Learn basic mixing techniques.

• Content: Crossfader usage, EQ control, transitioning between tracks smoothly.

Lesson 7: Advanced Mixing Techniques

• Objective: Develop more advanced mixing skills.

• Content: Beat juggling, mixing in key, harmonic mixing, using effects.

Lesson 8: Building a Set

• Objective: Learn how to create a DJ set.

• Content: Track selection, reading the crowd, energy flow, creating playlists.
