Review of Christmas by Candlelight - Dundee
This was a good show and the musicians and singer were excellent...it totally wasn't what was expected though. There were two small rows of candles on stage in the massive chairs hall, which were drowned out by the normal intense stage lighting. The "by candlelight" concerts, which I've now realised are a different company, are unplugged, atmospheric and instrumental. It feels like the advert for this reflected that. You could tell a lot of attendees were confused by the full on high energy show (and some left), but I'm sure more would have attended if it had been advertised in a different way. The performers were excellent, just totally not the show I anticipated.

Review of Christmas by Candlelight - Dundee
It was just a band playing Christmas songs. The promotional illustration leads you to think the stage will have at least 1 Christmas tree and maybe some tinsel. Nope. Just some candles at the front. The music was fine but a bit more of a Christmassy set would look better and add to the atmosphere.

not what expected hardly any candles poor atmosphere band looked like they had just met kept speaking over each other female singer had karoke screen at her feet as didn't know the words best 2 where sax player and drummer

Musicians were excellent! Was a wee bit disappointed the female singer didn't seem to know some of the words to the songs and it was noticeable. Was a shame as her voice is amazing!!

The event was nothing like it was advertised. No candle lit atmosphere because of the bright strobe lighting, the songs were more karaoke than Christmas âenchantmentâ. We walked out during the third song because it was so bad, only to be told that around 20 people had left before us, and the expectation from staff was that a lot more would leave during the interval! Such a disappointment!
