Was absolutely unreal. Probably one of the Sweetest wipeout nights I've been to. Only thing lacking was a good burrito stand at the end.

Fellow Soundcollisioners and Soundcollisionettes, comrade moshers! Sorry for taking so long in writhing this ? but as they say ? better late than never!

It was so lovely to see you all last Friday. P I C K ?N? M I X has come to its grand conclusion and I couldn?t be happier with the turnout! Thank you all so much for coming and supporting the bands! You were an amazing audience.

Here is my usually little sum up of our escapades.

Mr Wishart kick started the night with a brilliant set of acoustic wonders which despite a little water feature setback, was performed flawlessly and finished on time. Mr Wishart?s music is available on Amazon, Itunes & Spotify ? check him out: https://www.facebook.com/misterwishart?fref=ts

The Deadly Winters seized the stage with gusto and soon had everyone dancing and singing along to their tunes. Personally Trua Mae has been haunting me ever since Friday (haunting in a good way). Their new album was released in October and is now available on Itunes, Amazon & Bandcamp. You will also be able to hear them play quite repeatedly (at least for the next week or so) at Coffee Home Internet café where I work ! One Way Chemistry - furnished us with a ?darker side of the moon? kind of set - steamy and smoky alternative rock- that had us all bopping on the dance floor. The Patches have changed their line-up since you have seen them the last playing at Sound Collision ? they changed drummers, added sax/recorder and apparently they were one guitar down. This concluded the first part of the evening and the second part couldn?t have started with a better band than with the Deluded Buddhas! I had really good time playing with them ? might have speeded up a few of the songs and flopped a couple of grooves but the lads saved me every time. The Filthy Harmonics saved us all when the evil cancellitis struck again. They accepted the gig very last minute and having only a few rehearsals with their new drum maestro. The put on a smokin? set of heavy prog rock and I can?t wait for the next gig ? though I missed out on the scary feet dance !!! Don?t forget to check out the Harmonics and like them here:

And for the grander than grand finale!! The Saccharines ? nay THE SACCHARINES ? the gods of mighty guitar riffs and steamy rhythm ? they set the stage on fire and kept it alight until 3AM! Sound Collision - P I C K  'N'  M I X

Fellow Soundcollisioners and SoundcolIisionettes, comrade moshers! It is almost unreal that Masquarada has been and gone - but what a night! Two days on and I am still washing off the glitter! Thank you all so much for coming and supporting the bands! You were an amazing audience and I hope you will all stay in touch either via facebook or our website - www.soundcollisionevents.co.uk

However before I tell you all about it: TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN - When clearing up at the end of the night I found a couple of abandoned jackets and left them in the trusty hands of Henry?s Cellar Bar staff ? if you?re missing a jacket please contact the bar.

Well it is DONE! ? the new SC season has officially begun and I will have at least 6 other events for you between now and July 2014.

Personally I think we couldn?t have started with a better event than Masquarada ? I would even dare to say that it was the best event so far. We usually have amazing music happening but this time round I am really proud that in the true sense of Sound Collision we have also managed to host the widest range of music genres yet.

Despite starting the night with a little time set back, the very talented Rob Hack commenced his electro-melodic performance with gusto and without a sound check. He entertained us throughout his alternative set and even included a wee acrobatic number. Edinburgh 4piece that you could have seen performing at our birthday party. They carved into the evening with songs full of commentary on socio-political issues done with in a post-punk style. Their performances have always been tight and they didn?t disappoint. (broken strings and all :))

Up next we had a brand spanking new number on Edinburgh?s music scene ? ThinkTank ? I have to say this was the first band I have ever put on without hearing them at least once and you know what? I have no regrets ? their set was all improvised but tight, technical, interesting and non-repetitive ? keep your eyes on those guys ? hopefully you will see them playing for Sound Collision again sometime soon: https://www.facebook.com/pages/ThinkTank/651047014905701?fref=ts

You can?t really follow a technical jazzy hip hop wonderland with anything better than a politico-cultural-musical phenomenon ? a whirlpool of opinion in a form of real life poetry by Tickle; complemented by the scratch master extraordinaire Konstsky -personally they are my favourite educators in the world of hip hop ? they were both a little under the weather but performed a solid set ? you should really check out their work ? there is a CD and a book of poetry on sale :https://www.facebook.com/illpapagiraffe?fref=ts

The Cracklin? Void took to the stage just before midnight and started the second part of our evening with all the bells and whistles. They rocked us all in their very own special way ? combining garage blues, awesome guitar riffs, soulful harmonicas, cool grooves and intense beats. (and you know how I like those beats!) They are seasoned soundcollisioners and all amazing musicians. One o?clock gone and the stage darkened with the unique prog metal sound of Inceyte? you would have seen those guys headline several of Sound Collisions last season. I have been following them since their very beginning and it gave me a real pleasure to watch them develop, sharpen and solidify their music over the last year.
On Friday they started off with several really tight instrumental pieces before they introduced us to their new vocalist. I have to say I was really impressed and I especially like the different edge the vocals are adding to their sound. Amazing work ? they are off to much higher grounds now as they will be supporting the Algorithm at Electric Circus on 30 November (really proud of them) so get in touch with them and organize your ticket while you can! http://www.facebook.com/Inceyte?fref=ts

And for the grand finale we had the magnificent (sexy) rock of One Way Chemistry. Unfortunately we ran out of time and couldn?t quite finish their mighty set of awesomeness. Well there you have it ? 7 bands and lots and lots of brilliant music! We have totally run out of time to announce the winner of our fancy dress competition on the night so I have to remedy it now.

You were all an amazing audience and everyone looked fabulous but the winner of our fancy dress competition and a new owner or a wee bottle of Prossecco and 2 tickets for Sound Collison Pick ?N? Mix is Thibault Ritter who wore his mask all night long and looked fab in his kilt!

I have also decided to award runner up prize of 2 tickets to Sound Collision Pick ?N? Mix to the beautiful Jackie Wilton who unfortunately had to leave early but made an amazing effort in dressing up for the night.

Huge thanks to the bands for playing, to Henry?s Cellar bar for having us and thank you very much for your attention ? stay cool.

Sound Collision - M A S Q U A R A D A - 18/10/13 - Henry's Cellar Bar

Well hellooo world! I survived! We seemed to have had most of Edinburgh attending A F T E R S H O C K last night but for all those who have not made it  here is a little sum up:

Unfortunately for me I had to leave Henrys and missed the second part of our night but my honourable roadies took charge, recorded and reported to me on all that happened after my departure.

When I left, the place was full to the brim but all looked smooth and civilized on my return however  and do not worry the bar is still standing, the stage lights were dangling down from the ceiling and Henrys was full of people with goofy grins on their faces stating things like the best band ever or cant believe how good they were  or ****ing amazing or is there a CD I can buy? followed mostly by Deluded Buddhas ,Ten Foot Tom, Kennel Wages, The Patches or Red Manalishi. This doesnt mean that the other bands were less impressionable - all of the bands performed magnificently and I was delighted to have you all  thank you for playing for us. However  back to this CD matter of the above bands- Please produce and let us buy your work. If you already have CDs you are more than welcome to advertise or to post links on this page and I will also put them on the website  just get in touch.

Remember  with great power comes great responsibility! :) So please share your work.

Here is how the night went:

Pure Black lost their drummer on a very short notice but they are troopers as they are they have agreed to open the night with a shorter version of their set as a two piece  they did let me accompany them on the drums which was a honour and a pleasure for me. Even with a setback like  ehrm  not being able to rehe**** the set, they have performed beautifully and opened the night for the Patches flawlessly.

You may have heard The Patches at one of our events before but now they have added just about the grooviest bass player I have heard to their already super talented line up. If you thought they were amazing the last time  now they are unmissable!!! They do have a CD that should most definitely be in your collection so please do support them. It was not easy for Pocket Rocket to follow a band like The Patches and precede a mighty band such as Deluded Buddhas but they did their set Pocket Rocket style and I am very proud of them. Check out their Facebook page as they have a huge gig coming up.

NOW  Deluded Buddhas!!!! I feel as if I am standing on the edge of the eye of a storm - any second now the whole world will be all sucked up to the whirlpool of musical cyclone that this band is making  their set sounded even better than last week at The Speakeasy  I didnt think that was possible but here you have it. I am really honoured to be a part of this. Did I hear there was a CD coming out??? Ten Foot Tom and the Leprosy Crooks travelled up all the way from Whitby  our very first out of town band. Welcome guys. I met them briefly over a pint before their set and they seemed like decent and quietest bunch of lads  the moment the stage light hit them however they have self combusted and turned into guitar shredding, drumkit destroying demons (not in the metal way)  this probably doesnt sound like much of a compliment but it is meant with the utmost respect and as a compliment of the highest standard. Ten Foot Tom and Leprosy Crooks are lords of the stage and I am absolutely gutted to have missed them - If this is how music happens in Whitby I certainly must go! I have been waiting for Red Manalishi to be soundcollisioned for a while now and I must say - well worth the wait! In the last few months they have expanded their original (already accomplished) three piece to a tight sounding, guitar burning four piece  keep your eyes and ears out for this band!

The entire night culminated with Kennel Wages...... what can I say about Kennel Wages? They came, they saw and they conquered!! At 2 in the morning the lads put on a magnificent set full of spirit and energy that left people wanting for more. This is one beast of a band  they look like a bunch of lads from next door so you wouldnt know any different just from looking at them or talking to them but give them their instruments and your jaw will drop. I heard many a seasoned musician mutter to themselves last night in bewilderment and awe to Kennel Wages skill and talent! The entire night couldnt have ended on a better note. The lads will perform this coming Friday in the Jazz Bar  DO NOT MISS THAT ONE!

Well  I tell ya! This what has started off as a little write up on the night is now a newsletter  forgive me - I couldnt possibly miss out on any of the bands! A F T E R S H O C K

What a night last night! Our Pocket Rocket layed a super spongey, fruity & nutty base, The Patches supplied the cream & icing, The Bare Bones added the cherry on the top ... and then - Inceyte brought THE PARTY in! Amazing work by all the
bands ... if I might say so myself.

Fabulous work and effortless (always cheery and always helpful) support by all the Henry's Cellar bar staff - Claire, Nora, Martin and the bar people - and uber, uber well done to everyone that made it out last night - supporting and following your friends and your bands - Massive thank you for making all of this possible - it was probably the busiest Sound Collision yet and it wouldn't be the same without you.
