Unfortunately, there was no German Beer, nor German food or German music and we paid a horrendously high amount of 20 pounds for the event. Actually, I feel scammed and would like to have my money back.  

Review of Oktoberfest Edinburgh 2021

Full venue transformation? There were a couple of German flags up, that was it 

Music? A lad doing acoustic covers of pop songs then a brass band doing foo fighters songs is hardly Bavarian

The bar ran out of beer within an hour of us being there. There were no steins, no German beers, no food. Nothing

20 pounds to have a bottle of American beer in a bowling alley, an absolute con


Ran out of beer after 1 round. A few benches in the corner of a bowling alley that was free to get in to. The 'stein' was just a plastic. Pint tumbler in the style of a stein. No German food or anything German about it other than the Oompah band and a few flags. Absolutely ridiculous and will be expecting a full refund. 

This event was a complete rip off. We paid Â£60 for three tickets for what was essentially some cordoned-off seats and the privilege of using a plastic pint glass (not a stein as advertised).

The venue had no German beers available and no pretzels and bratwurst (also advertised). They only had Moretti (Italian) and Heineken (Dutch) on tap and then ran out of all draught beer altogether - quite unbelievable.

Rather than the whole venue being transformed as was advertised, we had a cordoned off area that was next to the bar but all the rest of the the bowling alley customers were able to see and hear the same as the paying Oktoberfest customers. Also there was no one making sure only paying Oktoberfest customers were entering the cordoned-off area and many non-paying people came in to sit down as well as others using the area as a shortcut to leave the venue. 

I got these tickets for my girlfriend's birthday and she had just finished a night shift at the hospital she works at. She got up without much sleep to come to what we thought would be a fun day out but it was embarrassing how poor and shoddy the whole thing was. 

The event was very lacking in what was advertised and we could've had the same 'experience' for free if we'd sat just outside the cordon. The organisers blamed the venue for everything that wasn't as advertised and are deleting all negative comments from Facebook.

I want a full refund for this scam of an event. 

TOTAL RIP OFF!! As a first time October fest goer to say I was extremely disappointed is an understatement..! To call it an October fest is an absolute insult, no German beer, pathetic small Steiner and no bratwurst or even anything remotely German….had the cheek to say they had a German burger ( which was just a normal burger) and then when questioned as to why they didn’t have anything, we were told they had only found out about the event the day before.!  
Pathetic excuse and pathetic event!! 
Will not be back and will be demanding a refund! 


We paid just over £100 for 5 tickets to watch people walk in with no tickets as the door staff didn't check for them.
Very little choice of beer as most of the beer taps were off, no stiens.
Poorly organised and very ltttle atmosphere, would not go again or recommend it.

It was a good afternoon session, 
The drinks were a little overpriced and the bar service was slow but more the venue issues than the event 

That was the absolute worst Beer Festival I have ever attended. A cheap pint plastic instead of the promised Stein. No German lager as promised. The venue ran out of draft beer within 15 minutes. At least 50% of folks left within an hour. The organiser was a charlatan who did not care less. Companies like this should be shut down under trades description.!

£20 per person and all you get is a seat at a table. Could have stood at the bar in the venue for free and experienced the same thing. The venue had no beer on draught or steins to drink from (although the event advertised as having German beer and steins). Advert also mentioned there would be German food available, again there was none of that.  Several people were making complaints about it to the staff. The whole event was a complete waste of money.

When we arrived (around 7pm) most people were leaving, telling us that there was no German beer and the event was a disaster. At this point, we figured that these people probably had too much to drink already and that it wasn't all that bad. We were wrong. 

Aside from there actually being no German beer, the whole event was very disappointing. We paid £20 per person, just to sit at some tables in a tiny, taped off area. The whole venue was still accessible to the public, meaning that the Oktoberfest guests used the same bar as the public guests, and the public guests could also listen to the band. I.e. we could have had the same experience for free had we just gone bowling, with the only difference that we would have had to sit at the tables outside the taped off area. 

I felt really sorry for the band, who kept soldiering on despite the awful atmosphere (everyone who paid for the event was very upset, understandably, and nobody felt like dancing or singing). 

We made the best of the situation, got a bottle of Desperados (again, as there was no German beer), enjoyed the band and danced anyway (though we were pretty much the only people who did). Nonetheless, the event was a big disappointment and I will look into getting a refund.
