Review of Luca Stricagnoli UK & Ireland Tour 2023
Luca Stricagnoli is like no other musician. Although he's a guitarist, he's not just a guitarist and he's not a guitarist in the usual sense. He uses his guitar in ways that no-one else does, playing bass, melody, percussion, so that you hear the full song and not just a part of it. Then, there's the three-necked guitar and Luca playing that with both his hands and his feet. Then, there's the guitar lying on it's back and played more like a steel guitar and, of course, the harmonica! I'd watched him on YouTube but seeing him live was mind-blowing. There may have been only 40 to 50 people there to see him perform, which was a travesty, but for those of us there, we sat there completely and utterly entranced by his briliance. Words like awesome and phenomenal, whilst apt, don't really capture what he does. It's guitar playing and arrangements on a whole, other level. I highly recommend going to see Luca perform and enjoy not only his music (both covers from the likes of Guns 'n' Roses, Linkin Park, the Prodigy and Slipknot) but also his own compostions. He is also very, very funny, with a dry sense of humour that had everyone laughing. One hour and thirty-five minutes (no interval) of musical genius.
