Karnataka & Jo Hill.
Really enjoyed the show by both acts. Having never heard of either I wasn't sure what to expect. Jo Hill was excellent, very haunting vocals and for someone to stand up there on her own with just keyboards says a lot for her. Karnataka were excellent, very powerful and a great lead vocalist - actually went and bought their new album at the end of the gig, need to listen to them a bit more methinks.

Nimml Brothers Dec 20th 2013
Third time in recent months thatI have seen these guys and they do not disappoint. Screaming lead guitars and extremely competent vocals made for a blues feat fit for a BB King (see what I did there?)
Looking forward to the next one already!

Dodgy - Sitting comfortable in a dark place (by the stage)
Last year I saw a little nervous appearing Dodgy at Electric Circus in Edinburgh. The show was good, great even, but what a difference a year has made....
Dodgy set was brilliant from start to finish (well, in my case just short of finish....damn these last train timings!).
Standing Upright In a Cool Place has been played regurly in my house and car, so I found it amusing when Nigel said," some songs you might recognise will be played soon"...I knew all of this set word for word.
After a short break we had the pleasure of the Dodgy album. Now, I have all Dodgy albums in my collection, but of them all, this is the one I least listen to...therefore the irony of Nigel's comment probably only struck me, as I heard some of the songs from this set for the first time in ages!
The "favourites" of course are just that, so whilst we still wait for any sign of prolonged sunshine, "Staying Out For The Summer" still had us all singing and tapping along, like we were at a sunny festival of thousands (not the poor turn out of Voodoo Rooms on a Sunday night).
I've also got to give a shout out to Mathew's drumming, it was amazing to watch the genius at work!
Great gig and what the crowd lacked in numbers was made up for by enthusiasm and enjoyment!!

Dodgy still as good as ever!
Brilliant concert. Shame the turnout was so low but it meant a great intimate show. The band played a nice long set and had some friendly banter with the punters. The new album is fabulous and I also enjoyed hearing some of their top tunes from the 90's. Nice one Dodgy!

Dead Men's Shoes were so good for lads so young, really talented guitarist and vocalist, and the bassist n drummer carried the tunes perfectly, Really impressed. Main Street Blues were great, and Rev Doc...what can I say, loved the drummer, the guitarist blew me away and Rev Doc? What a character, loved the harmonica solo in the crowd and the effort made to make the audience feel the blues...loved it. Also loved the venue, really cool and friendly. Brilliant night!

Truth is Funnier Than Fiction
Truth is Funnier Than Fiction in the Speakeasy in Voodoo Rooms happened tonight and what a night!!
MOG very kindly performed not 2, not 3 but 4 amazing poems for us - The Jackals have burned a hole in the stage as they performed their entire set on fire - The Cosmonauts gave it their heart and soul and even in their unexpectedly reduced numbers they have melted the dance floor - The Bare Bones grooved in style of Bare Bones - bit of old and bit of new and Deluded Buddhas? Well, all I have to say is ... You can't silece it!!! You can't silene it!!! Just brilliant - their debut gig and an amazing one.
Thanking kindly all the bands - you have out done yourselves. Huge thanks to the Voodoo Rooms bar staff and their sound guru Bryan for their help and friendly approach. Hugs, kisses and all else they ask from me to my awesome roadies and beautiful hosteses.
... but most of all .... massive thanks to all that made it in and supported the bands tonight - you were a fantastic audience and pleasure to play for!!
You can catch MOG & The Bare Bones in Henry's Cellar Bar on Friday 1st Feb and Deluded Buddhas (also in Henry's) on Saturday 2nd Feb.
Till the next time - R 'n' R & kisses!
PS - don't forget to follow the black sheep and all the bands
