About

About Etuk Ubong

Etuk Ubong is a Nigerian trumpeter, composer, and bandleader known for his
unique fusion of Afrobeat, highlife, jazz, and the ritualistic drumming of Ekombi.
His music is vibrant, energetic, and spiritually driven, reflecting his heritage and
life philosophy of goodwill, peace, and love for humanity. With compositions that
are both politically charged and deeply rooted in his cultural background,
Ubong’s sound has drawn comparisons to prominent UK artists such as Shabaka
Hutchings and Sons of Kemet, yet remains distinctly Nigerian.
Etuk has developed his original style, which he calls "Earth Music." Often fast
paced and thought-provoking, his performances feature him 14 piece band
called Etuk Philosophy. His music addresses themes of injustice, humanity, and
spirituality.

Etuk's live performances have taken him to prestigious venues and festivals across the UK, Europe, and beyond. He has headlined events such as the Avernax Festival in
Denmark, Sonic Pluriverse Festival in Germany, and FMM Sines Festival in Portugal,
among others. His notable performances include the Roundhouse and Jazz Café in
London, Ronnies Scott, and the Royal Albert Hall, as well as multiple appearances at the Roskilde Festival in Denmark and Africa Festival Hertme in Netherlands.
