Review of Midlothian Fire & Light walk - Vogrie Country Park
Our grandson thoroughly enjoyed the event. He’s 7. There was some interactive activity (etch a sketch) that had long queues and therefore time on it was very limited. Suggest that similar things have several stations to increase enjoyment.
Good variety of scary and less scary things.
We felt £2 for 5 marshmallows on a stick (to toast) was a bit of a rip off. Given admission prices £1 would be more reasonable.
More information before the event would have been helpful as we didn’t know what to expect. our grandson has special needs and we couldn’t explain it to him which caused a little anxiety before it started.
Staff were helpful and attentive.

Review of Vogrie Country Park
Chilly but wonderful ! We were worried initially about the parking however there was an overflow car park prepared. Be warned there is a £2 fee for the parking to get out, however when I asked I was informed the money goes directly to Vogire Park itself so I was happy to pay.
The park was beautiful with ambient music, projections, fire and actors. I haven’t roasted marshmallows in years ! Especially not in front of a live fire performance. Well worth it!
Wonderful night, stellar job on production and special thank you to Gem & Callum for helping me rearrange my tickets and fit me in on another night after I’d accidentally double booked my social calendar !
See you next year !

Review of Vogrie Country Park
Absolutely fantastic night! The children loved it ! The actors were amazing and interactive the children were elated.
We were also told about a time change earlier on in the month to our initial 6.30pm booking, however the later spot meant the park was a bit darker and was fine with us. It was super busy early on but the staff were lovely and seemed incontrol. They kept us informed that they were letting in about 50 people every few minutes so they walk would flow. We had a mulled wine an the children made some of the free crafts before we went in.
All and all it was an amazing experience- thanks guys !

Review of Midlothian Fire & Light walk - Vogrie Country Park
I love the idea but the implementation and communication of this event was poor; I booked 6.30pm originally and then the time was changed to 7.15pm then changed back to 6.30pm. We arrived at 6.15pm only to be told that it wouldn’t open until 7pm then we had to wait a further 30 mins in a queue to actually go into the forest. I do not mind queuing but my 2 year old was not so patient and I think that people who had booked 6.30pm tickets should have been allowed in first. Lots of annoyed parents waiting with small, tired toddlers. The actual walk & displays were great - worth the money but the overall planning, booking & event management seemed me poor in comparison to similar events we have attended at the botanical gardens and the enchanted forest.

Review of Midlothian Fire & Light walk - Vogrie Country Park
We booked tickets for 9pm and wished we had gone earlier. The lighting and atmosphere was lovely but by the time we got around to the fire area everything was shutting up shop. We just managed to see the two fire dancers and at the finale section there was literally nothing happening. A woman mentioned to us she had an arrival time of 9.30pm and was hugely disappointed. Definitely would recommend going earlier and be prepared to pay £2 car parking on way out, which i thought was a rip off considering the price of the tickets.

Review of Midlothian Fire & Light walk - Vogrie Country Park
Initially, it was chaos trying to get through the main booking in area to the forest. The stewards had no idea what was going on and said it was "basically a free for all" when we asked if there was a queue.
Also, the requirement to pay for parking is an absolute joke. I had already spent £40 on tickets and then to be told when we got there that we should have £2 cash for the parking. I don't recall seeing this anywhere when I booked so it was lucky we had coins. If you for whatever reason feel the requirement to charge for parking on top of ticket prices, factor the parking fee into the ticket price instead!
However, although these issues were irritating, we had a great time at the event and would definitely recommend this show, the minor nuisances were just disappointing in an otherwise fantastic event.

Review of Midlothian Fire & Light walk - Vogrie Country Park
Having been at other similar events, apart from actual venue thought the event was mediocre, they were also still charging £2 to exit car park, interesting as normally no charge when exiting after 7pm

Review of Midlothian Fire & Light walk - Vogrie Country Park
The start time was changed at relatively short notice which meant far too many people arrived at the same time, causing a very long wait to get in. This was particularly difficult for many families with young children. It was disappointing and reflected poor planning because it would have been easy enough to predict when the sun would be setting. This also meant that it was difficult to enjoy the beginning of the event because it was far too busy and did not feel safe.
It was also disappointing that the barriers were still in place to pay for parking on exit. This should have been included in the (not inconsiderable) ticket price.
Finally, we were emailed about the event and change of time. There were multiple spelling errors - very unprofessional. Additionally there was a clear and highly concerning breach of data protection/GDPR - all of the email recipients were listed so that everyone receiving the emails could see them. This is unprofessional and in serious breach of GDPR regulations.

Review of Midlothian Fire & Light walk - Vogrie Country Park
Preferred botanic gardens light show if I’m honest. Tickets weren’t cheap and then they ask for £2 to use the car park and one glass of wine cost £5.
It also states it sells tickets for blue badges holders... Please note- THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NOT FOR DISABLED PERSONS ESPECIALLY IN A WHEELCHAIR! My mum went with my dad (wheelchairuser) and she had to turn back after only 5 minutes on the walk.

Review of Midlothian Fire & Light walk - Vogrie Country Park
Amazing how a walk you know well during the day can be transformed. Loved the light displays on Vogrie House and the trees looked beautiful with the colourful lighting effects. Fire shows were very good even on a windy night. Well organised event.

Review of Midlothian Fire & Light walk - Vogrie Country Park
A great event! Both us and the kids (aged 7 and 11) thoroughly enjoyed it. It was fantastic to see Vogrie Park lit up and the lighting effects on Vogrie House were brilliant. We all really enjoyed the fire display and the sword swallowing too!
