Review of August House Movies: Its a Wonderful Life
Absolutely awful from start to finish - which was much earlier than expected as we decided to leave before the movie even started!! To say that the set up was amateur would be generous!! Would highly NOT recommend this venue

Review of August House Movies: The Holiday
While the staff were lovely and friendly, the event was definitely not what I expected. The strange cardboard plates with a small amount of nachos and cold cinema cheese sauce then popcorn in a plastic pint glass was a bit odd. The c**ktail was an overly sweet concoction of liqueurs and lemonade, I thought you would be able to choose a c**ktail from the drinks list. The downstairs venue was just chairs all racked up in rows with no tables I thought it would have been set up at least similar to sloans eat film layout with tables. Strange evening and as there would be no way to eat anything during the film we all ended up having dinner at nearly 10pm in Sugo afterwards. Not particularly impressed unfortunately.

Review of August House Movies: The Holiday
Unfortunately the description of this event on the website was misleading. It was described as a "cozy evening" and "winter wonderland", so I assumed this bar would be setting the tone with Christmas music and decor but it very much remained a bar with its associated music. The staff were very accommodating and quick to provide the nice welcoming c**ktail as well as help with additional food. The nachos were small, with cold cheese sauce. We were advised to get smaller plates to eat during the movie rather than a burger for example but I can't imagine how we could have eaten anything during the movie. The event space is downstairs in a long room with a private bar. The event described being able to view the movie on "giant screens". This in fact, was two separate class-room sized screens with projectors. The seating was closely placed dining room chairs with no space for placing your drinks, which I assumed we would have as we were allowed to bring our glasses downstairs. Again, once we saw the set up downstairs I can't imagine how food would have been served or consumed while being so closely seated. Unfortunately we did not stay, as the movie could be enjoyed from a much more festive and comfortable setting - my home. As we had already scoffed our c**ktail and nachos we were more than happy receiving a partial refund (50%)! It's only appropriate to review this as I see there are several other festive movies being provided by this venue in the same way, and wish to help adjust peoples expectations, especially on Christmas Eve.
