Tom Hingley has been playing his Inspirals back catalogue with his very own Karpets tribute band since 2016.
The fantastic band has trod the boards at the Shine On Weekender at Minehead , supported Black Grape at four dates across the UK in December 2023 and performed at Club Supersonic (Paris) , Stone Valley North and numerous other stages all over the nation.
Tom’s band has a new name ‘Tom Hingley plays Inspiral Carpets.
Different name but the same exuberant mixture of energy , passion , heartbreak and aggression of the Karpets years where classic Manchester singles such as This is How it Feels Saturn Five and Dragging Me Down are played at pull pelt with style, stealth, and great sense of humour.
The band feature Malcolm Law on Drums, Andrew Stewardson on Keys, Philip McIntyre on guitar and backing vocals, Dave Murray on bass and old big lungs himself Tom Hingley ex inspirals heyday lead singer on vocal duties.
Tom was the inspirals ‘hits’ singer who joined them in 1989 and helped them move beyond their John Peel beginnings to dizzy international fame.
He sang on all inspirals hit singles and four Mute Records released albums. Tom parted company with inspirals in 2011 to pursue a solo career and they play on.
