About

HIPPY: “Formed originally as a duo in 2019 between singer Paul Hipson and guitarist Hugh Frizell. Both experienced musicians previously on the scene working solo or with other artists prior to that fateful meeting. The guys met by chance in Glasgow and hit it off personally and musically sharing many influences along the way. The first studio collaboration was the track ‘Aries Girl’ which was released in November 2019 and met with critical acclaim. Subsequent follow up songs included ‘Feelgood’, ‘Junkyard Babies’ and ‘Volunteer’. All being received with genuine positivity from critics and fans alike. 2 co-written albums have followed. Debut album ‘Behind Every Song is a Story’ – was released on all major platforms on October 2020. Hippy followed that up with releasing ‘Falling In Love With Being Alive’ in August 2021. Many tracks for both these records have gone on to become firm live favourites either acoustically with Paul and Hugh or as full live band. Post-release of FILWBA saw the chaps play some headline shows in their hometown, Glasgow at notable venues like Nice ‘n’ Sleazys and their ‘home’ which has become Room 2. They’ve also enjoyed a generous share of local and national radio play in particular with the prominent rock critic/ journalist, Billy Sloan, regularly playing and championing the band on his Saturday night BBC Radio show. Several singles have been written and released post the FILWBA album such as ‘Collateral’, ‘Idol’, ‘Waiting For Love’ and ‘Justice and the Thief’ to name a few. Also released was their distinctive cover of the Peter Gabriel 80s classic ‘Sledgehammer’.
and recent release of the Beatle cover “I’ve got a feeling” was released to critical acclaim on Billy Sloans BBC radio Scotland show

The band line up includes Johnny D on Bass and G-Man McPhie on drums – both tasteful, experienced players that bring their own respective stamps to the songs you hear now from the band in a live setting.
This will be a full/electric band show so get along on July 20th and hear the chaps take the roof off!’ “

We tried our best and gave it our all.” Hippy x”
