Greenpeace Glasgow is excited to announce and invite you to a new fundraiser, Greenpeace On Earth. Taking place at Room 2, Glasgow on Friday 6th December (7-10pm). The night will be a blast with great music from the incredible artists Weatherman, Stone Ashes, IZIT? & Wends and Louis Rive and our popular raffle!
Right now, we’re acting on plastics. Governments across the globe have an opportunity to ratify the Global Plastics Treaty. Using less plastic means keeping more oil and gas in the ground.
Doors are at 7pm and we’ll be starting the night off with returning Louis Rive: "A singer-songwriter based in Glasgow. His music generally tells stories of people, politics and obscure historical figures from Scottish history. His music generally doesn't cover mountains, glens, the sea and bucolic idyll." You might also know him from his brilliant show on Sunny Govan Community Radio. We’re excited to have him back!
Then we’ll have our next artists: "IZIT? and Wends are a selector - MC pairing setting out to bring you the best in soundsystem music. Hailing from London and Greenock respectively they'll bring a deadly combination of bass heavy sounds and fast paced, grimey lyrics. With their foundations in roots and rubadub they'll travel through UK soundsystem culture with a focus on garage, dubstep, grime and jungle!"
This glorious group will be followed by Stone Ashes: "An indie/alternative rock band based in Glasgow, with a goal to bring back the love for music. Shea and Aiden are two teenage boys who started a band and we’re glad they did. With many influences from the 60s and 90s indie scene, think of the Beatles and Oasis, they’re bring back something long lost in this digital age. Stone Ashes look to show Glasgow what music really is."
Finally topping the night off with our incredible headlining act, Weatherman: "This Glasgow five-piece are a group whose live shows are laden with art rock vocal lines and unique instrumentals. Sax and violin combine with an interjecting rhythm section to create a sound that has excited the Glasgow scene over the years. Since forming Weatherman in 2022, the band has seen sold out shows in Glasgow, Manchester and London’s most iconic venues. Weatherman hails from all over Scotland, England and Ireland. But, their time spent in Glasgow over the past few years has seen them soak in the city's rich musical history, to form something that has laid a unique imprint on the scene."
All funds raised from this fundraiser will go towards Greenpeace UK projects. Greenpeace is a movement of people who are passionate about defending the natural world from destruction. Our vision is a greener, healthier and more peaceful planet. Greenpeace UK is fighting for peace, social justice and nature protection, all while being under threat from the hideously immoral company from hell: Shell, who alongside causing 1,377 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (all before 2020), are now suing Greenpeace for £1.7 million, but it could reach £7 million.
Come and support an essential cause, listen to amazing music, whilst being surrounded by many ingenious creatives and likeminded souls with a desire to affect positive change in the world.
