About

23 Promotions & Room 2 Live Presents...
Join us for an evening of amazing live music with Glasgow rock 'n' rollers Hippy making a welcome return to Room 2 and with support from Balderdash And The Thing and The Sensitive Souls.
HIPPY: "The now established collaboration between singer/ songwriter Paul 'Hippy' Hipson and guitarist Hugh Frizell with the project based in Glasgow. Forrmed in Glasgow back in September 2019 owing to a chance meeting between Paul and Hugh. Hippy originally played early shows as a more acoustic voiced duo. However as demand grew for a bigger more expansive live show, they added 2 further members in '22 with Johnny D arriving on bass and G-Man on drums. Initial early singles such as 'Junkyard Babies' and 'Volunteer' were received with genuine positivity from critics and fans alike. The outfit received some national radio airplay and played notable Glasgow shows at venues such as Room2, Barras Art & Design (BAAD) and the Old Hairdressers to name a few. Two full studio albums have subsequently been released with debut 'Behind Every Song Is A Story' being released in September '20 followed up quickly by 'Falling In Love With Being Alive' in August '21. Both albums met warmly by critics and fans of the band noting a distinctive sound and eye (and ears) for melodies and a song. Post release of FILWBA saw Hippy play some further headline shows in their hometown, Glasgow and again also enjoy a generous share of local and national radio play with every release. In particular the prominent rock critic/ journalist Billy Sloan, being one. Billy has regularly played and championed the band on his Saturday night BBC Radio show. Further singles were released such as 'Boho Eskimo', 'Waiting For Love', 'Collateral' and recently a cover of the band's live Beatles crowd pleaser 'I've Got A Feeling' with all being given a great reception either online or live. Moving into '24 sees Hippy cement their live show full band experience and with more gigs this year to follow. The remainder of '24 sees the band take in some local festivals plus another headline show at Room2, Glasgow on July 20th. More gigs later in the year are also being planned. "We tried our best and gave it our all." Best wishes from Hippy, Glasgow - July 2024."

Billy Sloan (BBC Radio Scotland) quotes:

"I was absolutely blown away by this band... Great vocals of Paul Hipson... Absolutely overwhelming and fantastic guitar playing of Hugh Frizell... One of the best guitar players plying his trade at the moment."

THE SENSITIVE SOULS: "An indie project that consists of Jamie and Marc Strachan. Songs wrote about expressing your feelings, your hopes, and your dreams. For fans of Frightened Rabbit, Glasvegas."
BALDERDASH AND THE THING: "Born and raised in the parklands of Glasgow. Two weather beaten street musicians delighting passers by with a mixture of nostalgic social commentary and male pattern baldness."
14+. Under 18's must be accompanied by an adult. Original photo ID required (driving licence - full or provisional, passport or Young Scot card).
Room 2 is only a few minutes walk from Central and Queen Street Train Stations, Buchanan Bus Station and is near to the Subway on Buchanan Street.
Thank you for your support and see you there!
