Sonica: The Unsung Machine Live // Lomond Campbell
The Unsung Machine, created by award-winning Scottish musician and producer Lomond Campbell, is a device for turning words into sound. Initially designed to introduce random elements into Campbell’s songwriting by generating words out of the noises of the everyday environment, the Machine has now developed into a steampunk console that allows audiences to ‘dial’ in words, sentences, even secrets. These contributions will have both an immediate and a cumulative effect, as the Machine’s continuing playback incorporates these into its output of warm electronica.
This work is presented as an installation (see running schedule below), with three unique improvised performances on Saturday 21 September at 20:00, Friday 27 September at 18:30, and Sunday 29 September at 14:15.
