Review of Annie Mac - Before Midnight | Hastings Pier
Annie was brilliant as always! It was fun dance above the waves and the whole venue felt friendly and modern. The only downside was how quickly the bars ran out of certain drinks and the very closed nature of the rest of the pier. It was a bit sad to see all the shops and bars non-operational

Review of Annie Mac - Before Midnight | Hastings Pier
Music was Brilliant. Venue toilets and security not so. Long queues for dirty toilets. No toilet roll in any . Long queues for bars. Took forever to get a drink. Security not helpful and a bit rude.

Review of Annie Mac - Before Midnight | Hastings Pier
The drinks were so expensive, 175ml wine £9! No bottles for sale. Double spirit and mixer £11.50. Also took us a whole hour in the queue to get 1 drink at one point.
Portaloo Toilets had no sanisitiser in and ran out of toilet roll quickly.
Apart from that had a lovely time
Security were friendly
Luckily it didn't rain (forecast said it was going to) otherwise we would have been drenched, friendly atmosphere and beautiful beach surroundings before the sun went down
Glitter face paint available, some food trucks which we didn't use in the end, a clothing shop too x

Review of Annie Mac - Before Midnight | Hastings Pier
Superb night. Annie Mac was awesome, as always.
Hastings pier is one of my favourite venues. Out at sea and a friendly crowd.
The venue needs to rethink the bar, queues were horrendous and limited choice

Review of Annie Mac - Before Midnight | Hastings Pier
I was so gutted to read on the email I received a number of months after I booked my tickets about the entry rules. These rules meant that I was not able to attend this gig because of the non-inclusive policy of 1) the last entry time being over 2 hours before Annie Mac started and 2) re-entry being forbidden. As someone with a health condition it was not possible for me to wait on the pier for two hours before Annie Mac started. I am SO disappointed about this ableist policy which seriously disadvantages people with disabilities, health conditions and illness. In order to be able to leave this review I had to indicate my opinions of the Music etc, which I am sure was brilliant - but I will never know : ( And in other circumstances I love the venue (I'm a local) - but the conditions of entry were punitive and excluding.

Review of Annie Mac - Before Midnight | Hastings Pier
Hugely disappointed. I couldn't go, because people weren't allowed onto the Pier after 5pm and I work on Saturday. I'd planned to go at about 7pm after work, but got an email two days before the event from the "fun police" that is Hastings Pier, saying no entry after 5pm. I've checked my "exclusive Pre Sale ticket link " I got for the event and I can see no mention of this on there, so that's £43 down the pan (2 tickets at £18 each and £5.32 booking fee!) . Also, no bags bigger than A4, you cannot leave and then come back again, meaning people are literally trapped on the pier.
However, we know lots of people in Hastings who don't work on Saturday, or were able to take a day off and attend. That's why i've marked the music and atmosphere as 3 stars. I was told that it got a bit cheesy at the end of the evening, but given the age group a before midnight rave is aimed at, I can understand this. I was also told it took around 30 minutes to get to the bar, as the queues were massive. I've heard similar stories about the toilet queues too.
I'm sure Hastings Pier really don't care. They got a sold out evening and they've made loads of money. But perhaps in the not too distant future, when they don't get quite so many people attending these things, they'll reflect on this and maybe try and make offering a fun night out less of an obstacle course.
