Review of New Years Day Shindig
The music was good the venue beautiful but it was so cold you could barely sit in it let alone enjoy it . We didn’t take our big winter coats off the whole time we were there , We left early as couldn’t think of sitting any longer in it , just wanted to get home and get some heat . 1 pm was far too early to ask people to come as we sat until 2.30 before music started while we watched bands set up !!! 3pm would have been a better start up time . First band Torridon came on at 2.30 played until 3.20 they were good then we had to wait for next band (The Davitts ) to take nearly an hour to set up as they couldn’t get sound right , they were average . We didn’t wait for ceilidh band as by this time we were so cold it wasn’t comfortable to stay any longer. Very poor crowd , around 24 and that was with a lot of the bands relatives hence a very poor atmosphere . It’s a beautiful venue that needs to make sure the temperature is set where people are not freezing when they come to see bands they have on . For me to start a show on New Year’s Day at 1pm it’s far too early and from what I hear not enough advertising locally as very few people knew about it . Needs to be advertised in local papers and most of all the ICA monthly book that comes out with “ What’s on in Inverness†delivered to every household in Inverness for free
