About

40 years ago, we were half way through the 80s, dance music was thriving as sub genres were developing from the demise of disco, we had not seen House music yet but it was on the horizon as clubs across the pond including Paradise Garage, Studio 54, Funhouse, Power Plant and The Warehouse became more popular and their resident DJs began to gain recognition.
Funk, Soul, Freestyle, Hi-NRG & Hip Hop began to cross over into the mainstream but many of the kids who later went onto become house DJs will tell you that Electro was what gave them their first passion for dance music. Acts like Hashim, Afrika Bambaataa, Man Parrish, Whodini, Newcleus and producer, Arthur Baker pushed the envelope in the studio and led the way for others to follow.
Liverpool’s Greg Wilson has to be the ultimate DJ for this event, best known for his work at Manchester’s Haçienda, blowing the crowd away with his DJ set at the club’s 40th Birthday compiled from tunes released the year the club opened, 1982 but were still very much current in 1984, watch out for some of those at this night. He was the first UK DJ to mix live on TV when he visited The Tube in Newcastle, showing Jools Holland how it was done.
Leeds DJ Paul Weston is back with his unique brand of turntablism, his residencies in Leeds and throughout the UK have made him known for playing a mixture of hip hop, funk & house alongside legends such as Gangstarr, Big Daddy Kane, Grandmaster Flash & the Furious 5 and many more. Don't miss this rare set, combining the best 80s funk, hip hop & electro from the era of the all-dayers...
Graham Dixon since 1985 has been DJing at house parties and bars where he lived throughout the north of England then by 1988 he was a highly skilled & respected scratcher known for playing everything from hip hop, soul, breaks, early house and so on. Having already established a vinyl collection through his US, Europe & UK contacts, he became a most sought after DJ has his reputation grew which could've quite easily have taken the very reserved Graham to global status especially boasting a best vinyl, most advanced collection, which was by far way ahead of many at the time.
Anton Raphael has backed Revisited events all the way from our Birth Of House & Electro: Back To The 80s night at Hifi Club back in 2019, before we even had a name! His DJ career harks back to the 90s, playing at the likes of SpeedQueen at Leeds Warehouse as well as many other Leeds venues but his love of dance music started at a young age in the early 80s. Get ready for an amazing mix of music from Anton, he never fails to deliver a quality set with the smoothest of mixes at Revisited events.
Whether you were around at the time and want to remember those days or weren’t even born at such an exciting time for dance music, come along and check out the skills and tunes from these top DJs, dance, listen, drink and party like it’s 1984.
