About

The first of a series of events at the Fox & Newt, focussing on jazz and jazz adjacent music.

This month features:

Murgatroyd: Murgatroyd is an exciting contemporary RnB & jazz fusion band that has burst onto the music scene in the vibrant city of Leeds. Drawing inspiration from influential artists like Erykah Badu and Robert Glasper, Murgatroyd blends elements of RnB, jazz, neo-soul and UK jungle into a dynamic musical experience. Their performances are filled with soulful melodies, infectious rhythms, and a distinctive fusion of genres that leave audiences yearning for more.

Glass Frogs: based in Leeds, they combine a kaleidoscope of influences including hip hop, jazz, soul and funk to create an eclectic mix of stripped-back jazz ballads, cool beats and danceable grooves. Lyrically, the band cofnronts the absurdity of existance, exploring themes of mental health, neurodiversity and hope in the modern age of doom and gloom.

Emma Coates: Emma is a saxophonist and singer who’s been part of a variety of projects in Leeds. Her own music takes inspiration from groups such as Snowpoet and Esperanza Spalding, and along with Harry Souter (guitar), Nika Ticciati (bass) and Louis Bertoud (drums) she explores the crossover of jazz and folk.
