The venue is stunning and costumes were very very good. However there was very little there, including gins. £20 entry was far too much for what was on offer, £5 would’ve been more than enough as you didn’t actually get anything for your money at all! The 6 gins on sale were nothing special, normal supermarket gins but were sold at such an inflated price (£6 for a single, £8 for a double), in a small plastic cup - that we decided to leave after 1/2 h. Even the fruit in the gins wasn’t the freshest.... When we were asked if we were enjoying ourselves and answered not really instead of asking why the guy couldn’t wait to get away quick enough. We clearly weren’t the only ones feeling left disappointed and to be fair - ripped off! Never again! Shame as both the venue, the sun and the idea were fab.

Massive flop! So dissappointed! Tickets where £20 and for what?? Expected to be greeted on entry with at least complementary drink. Kirkstall abbey is stunning but a massive venue so the few people that were there made the place look empty and not at all like a party. They said there was going to be “street food”, there was no choice of food other than pizza which was disappointing, I expected a wide range of choices and food stalls to visit. And finally when you are sold an array of gin in plastic cups which is luke warm, it takes away any enjoyment.

Loved the atmosphere, live acts and photo booth- the food is absolutely amazing from all the traders!

Very disappointed with what was there, I think you'd have more stalls at a church fair.

I was so, so dissapointed with the family hidden Christmas market on Saturday 16th (from 11am). I am not one to complain, and I have oodles of festive spirit, but this event was a complete let down. After attending Sneaky Experiences’ Harry Potter event last August, I was really looking forward to the ‘magical adventure’ they promised. Unfortunately, bar a few characters dressed up and a little bit of foam snow on arrival, I failed to find any magic in the event at all. It just didn’t work. Families are there for an interactive experience, and to watch the entertainment. Paying £40, I expected something much more than Christmas Song Bingo, hosting a grand prize of a pair of reindeer antlers. We paid for five hours, between 11 and 4, and stayed for just over an hour. The kids made Christmas baubles (extra charge on top of £10 entry), we played a round of musical bingo, and we had a warm drink each. We also visited each stall and bought homemade bath bombs and some festive brownies. We tried really hard to make the most out of the event because, after all, it was a Christmas weekend outing for us, as well as my partners birthday. Nonetheless, I felt silly that I’d traipsed my family from Sheffield to Leeds for this event, promising them a magical day. It was anything but. I feel ripped off, let down, and really disappointed, more for my children who were looking forward to the Grimm fairy tale Christmas adventure. There’s more adventure and magic in my little toe. After an hour, we went into Leeds, had a Christmas meal, and wandered around the markets there. While you expect to pay a bit more for food and drinks at Christmas markets, we had a two course meal with drinks for the same price as four hot dogs at the hidden market. Like I say, any other market, it’s a given, but when you’ve paid £10 entry, you either expect quality entertainment and a variety of stalls, or food not to be extortionate. I can’t tell you how disappointed I am. Maybe this event only works in the evenings, when people are happy to drink copious amounts of mulled wine with their loved ones, while the Christmas lights twinkle (which I totally get, and would love) But, that doesn’t make a family day out). Never again. 

Amazing music and a wonderful magical setting! Will definitely be back next year!
