Not what I expected but I was very impressed with the knowledge I gained. Chairs were uncomfortable but the venue was very clean.

Review of Leicester\'s Vintage Weigh & Pay

I was excited for this event but unfortunately it was a total waste of time. Felt like I was in the bins of a charity shop - a huge amount of the stock was damaged or defective, horrendously outdated (not cool vintage, I'm talking early 2000s diamonte studded flares), or in ridiculously small sizes. If you're hoping for some designer bargains, think again - I only spotted one pair of DKNY jeans that were so defective most places wouldn't sell them. The mens selection was dire - there was 1 blazer in the whole place and no other formalwear at all, only about 3 coats, no plain cotton shirts, etc. My boyfriend and I don't dress to any particular era or style so were looking for a variety of things, but there really was nothing. The one thing they did have a few of was vintage aztec-y jumpers, but coming up to summer, this seemed a little redundant. Part of the reason I went was in search of a pair of Levi's I could cut into shorts as they made it seem on their social media they had tons, but every single pair were either filthy, undesirable styles or had irreparable holes in the crotch. I wasn't even looking for a particular size - I'm a 6 so was just hoping to grab any and wear with a belt... The bags were so beat up and scratched that I couldn't find a single one where the leather wasn't torn somewhere. The shoes were hidden under racks in the middle that would require you to get down on your hands and knees and risk being trampled on by the people trying to optimistically look at the disappointing denim John Denver-esque shirts.

The organisation was appalling - each rack seemed to be randomly placed anywhere with no direction or labelling as to what was where, so everyone was bumping into each other trying to look for the racks they were interested in in a boiling hot, stuffy room with music blasting so loud it was clipping. Almost like I was a reliving a sweaty teenage warehouse rave. Ugh. The concept of the "queue jump" tick*ts was the biggest con - there was no separate queue for people with these tick*ts, no signposting as to what you should do if you had one of these tick*ts, and everyone with one still had to queue down the road to get in. Not really sure what the purpose of that concept was.

Overall this felt like one person's "get rich quick" scheme with very little thought or care going into it. There was zero passion and I've been to car boots with a better atmosphere. The venue was very small, and the poor organisation only made it feel more cramped. The lack of acknowledgment that some customers had gone through the effort of printing out tick*ts, only for them to be completely forgotten about, only made the whole thing feel even more cold. The clothes were dirty, some were creased so bad you thought someone had attempted origami with them and everything was just haphazardly dumped in places with zero care involved. While obviously not everything can be washed or cleaned or ironed, some care should still be taken to ensure only remotely sellable things are put out. We both left without a single thing. And we arrived before they opened so must have been one of the first few in, and we went through every single rack. It can't have been a case of all of the good stuff going before we got there. The tick*ts should be refundable if you don't buy anything, was extremely disappointed. Would discourage anyone from wasting their time and money attending one of these events.

Worst vintage fair I\'ve ever been to, waste of time and money - AVOID!

For me personally I wouldn't visit another one. Alot of smaller sizes. I got just two items out of 3 hours. But some people had got loads of stuff so they were lucky to find something suitable. This isn't to say it's a rubbish event, just not suitable for me. The venue was fab, just in the wrong place. Would be better where parking is more accessible. For example if you wanted or managed to get a big bag of clothing, this is heavy to have to carry to a car. Again, personal opinion. 

Came away with 6 good quality vintage dresses and a gorg wicker bag. Looking forward to the next one. Would highly recommend!
