Review of KRAZYHOUSE HALLOWEEN DAYTIME PARTY SAT 26th OCT 3pm-10pm
I used to really love the Krazyhouse back in the 2010's and have really enjoyed the reunion nights and daytime events. However this was the most disappointing visit I have ever made to the K in my life.
Firstly I was already unhappy that this was a rescheduled event from the August Bank holiday due to the work being put in to the K1 Metal club, so as to "dedicate more time (and budget) to it" and because of the want to have "every reunion event to feel special and ideally be better than the last".
I arrived at the Krazyhouse around 6:30pm, later than I usually do at these events, but from previous experience, numbers usually pick up around this time and the best songs are playing and the atmosphere is excellent. However, I was disappointed to find K2 less than a quarter full (and that's being generous) and the songs at this point in the evening were quite frankly boring. And judging by the other clubbers on the dancefloor at this time who were stood in small circles chatting and not dancing or even seeming to have any interest in the music, I was not the only one who felt so. My partner and I tried to make the best of it, having a bit of a dance to the songs we knew before going down to K1 to see if the atmosphere there was any better and to see if the awards for best costume were being given out yet. On the way down, round 7pm, we noticed room 3/S**t Indie Disco was closed off and when we reached K1, there were more people but again not a full room and there didn't appear to be much interest from them in dancing or rocking or anything that I usually see on K1.
We decided to come back up to K2 and saw that S**t Indie Disco was open now, and totally dead. Considering the tick*ts were a sell out, and this was being billed on Facebook as "The biggest Krazyhouse event yet", I was extremely surprised to see such low numbers there. I didn't even have to queue up to get a drink at the bar all night (a small bonus I guess). And I didn't see any sign of the photographer all night.
And I was very disappointed in the DJ on K2. Usually it's great song after great song. But there'd be one popular one to get people going, then a couple of dull ones, just breaking up the atmosphere constantly. This continued for a while until about 8pm when it finally picked up. We popped down to S**t Indie Disco, slightly busier but still not what I expected. In the last hour on K2, songs like I Write Sins, Welcome to the Black Parade, Sugar We're Going Down and Teenagers finally came on, ones that usually take the roof off during the evening, but far too late in the night as the floor had emptied even more by then.
And it was advertised that there would be a big fancy dress competition and Halloween parade, but no information was given about what time or what floor it would be on. I know I wouldn't have won but I would have liked to have seen all the people dressed up together.
When the event was rescheduled from August, it was said "it's better to piss off a few people now rather than disappointing a load more people in 6 weeks time if the night doesn't live up to expectations".
Well congratulations , you didn't piss me off once, you pissed me off twice!
