Review of Independent Venue Week: SILENT-K / Zetland / Roisin McCauley

Got there just in time to catch Zetland, a fx bass heavy scousekraut band, with some great dynamics and enough 70s music references to keep them compelling through their extended psychedelic rock flanger infused jams... loads of potential in this band...

Silent K headlined straight into their hit single Work Work, and continued to bang out their tight and eclectic set with aplomb, and if I'm not mistaken strong hints of Devon, Talking Heads and Television, and a new tune that is none the worse for being a bit My Sharona. Hopefully they'll sustain the momentum, more sell out gigs and go on to great things.

The Handyman Pub is a great venue, good craft ales at the bar, and the backroom is a neat little venue, with the stage on the level with the audience. Who could ask for more?
