About

Winter Comedy Takeover at Liverpool Irish Centre

Headliner

Mark Nelson - Since winning the inaugural Scottish Comedian of the Year Award in 2006, barely a year after his first-ever open-spot, Mark's mix of dark humour, cutting observations and superb one-liners has seen him firmly established as one of the UK’s biggest-hitting comedy powerhouses. He has been tour support for Jason Manford, Russell Kane & Jim Jeffries.

With a likeable manner on stage belying some of the stronger content, Nelson often has audiences laughing at things they know they really shouldn’t be laughing at. An MA degree in Politics from Glasgow University supports his brilliantly topical writing and, although his stand-up is certainly not for the easily offended, the material is intelligent, well conceived and beautifully crafted, all supported by a very confident delivery.

He supplied material for Jason Manford’s A Funny Old Week, and three series of Russell Howard’s Good News. Mark also wrote and performed sketches, topical stand-up and co-hosted with Susan Calman BBC Scotland’s 2014 Commonwealth Games satirical comedy series Don’t Drop The Baton.

Mark has sold out his hour-long shows at more than a dozen Glasgow International Comedy Festivals and performed six hugely successful seasons at the Edinburgh Fringe. In 2017 he was voted by Voice magazine as Winner of Pick of the Fringe.

Host/MC -

Mark Devine  - relatively new to stand up, Mark has confidence of a seasoned performer with his funny stories & anecdotes about his life' Allan Finnegan BGT semi finalist. 'Mark at the Bijou, Southport delivered a very solid performance. He gets better every time I see him' Kevin O'Brien - Comedy Gold.

Support:

Amit Mistry is an Indian comedian from Manchester, breaking out of the typical Asian career stereotypes, much to his parents' disappointment and to
audience members' amusement. Expect big laughs from start to finish.’

Amit tells tales of what it is like being raised by Indian 'freshie' parents, who moved here from abroad to find a better life. Amit shares highly relatable stories about modern life as a millennial, and how his life and recent marriage is a
constant rollercoaster.

Dan Wild - is an Australian Scouse Stand-up comic. He's a really likeable guy, telling relatable anecdotes.

Devine Comedy

Fil Milton - ROFL One Liner Finalist and Halifax New Comedian Competition Finalist  “Milton was simply in a different league to everyone else on the bill… If [he] is this good now, then where will he be in a year or so? I predict that he's going to do very well.” Peter Fox, Notts Comedy Review
