Review of The Burlesque Ball Uk
I asked for your contact details on facebook and you blocked me from making comments! For weeks my messages were ignored. My comments deleted, blocked from commenting again . I was reasonable and patient. nurlesque ball were rude and unprofessional....The Burlesque Ball event in Liverpool was a disaster. The sightlines in the room clearly had not been considered. Obviously burlesque is mainly a visual entertainment and most people at the event were unable to see the performers. Those attending who were able to see where the 15 people stood in front of the stage and about 6 people on the upper level looking around the pillar. The venue was only at around 10% capacity so it was not a matter of crowding. It was my (pregnant) wife's birthday. We are big fans and supporters of burlesque. We had encouraged a group of friends to join us, promising a quality night. Being held at the 02 (a known venue) and from an established promoter we were very encouraged. As it was not possible for us to see anything but from the eyebrows up of the performers from anywhere in the room, we were obviously all more than disappointed. Being a birthday celebration and with a lot of the group travelling from far away we attempted to persevere. Standing on stairs, on top of chairs, peering over and around those on top tables. But it was not possible to see anything. I spoke with Lola the stage manager, who was already aware of the problem. She apologised and advised me to contact the promoter. She also agreed to speak to the compare and ask if she was able to request those in front were able to move away from the stage, perhaps allowing the rest of the audience to see. Understandably this didn't happen. In fact at one point the compare made a joke of climbing on top of a speaker so that people were able to see her. Eventually frustrated we left. According to the door staff more than 25 others had already left. I would like you to compare it to going to going to a concert and not hearing any music, going for dinner and not receiving food... It appears from other people's comments that the rest of the tour has been a great success (congratulations) and it seems this event was a blip. I am sure as a respected promoter of burlesque events you understand that Liverpool was unacceptable. The art form is misunderstood and its reputation often damaged by a lack of professionalism. I trust you will like to take this opportunity to try and rectify mistakes made and encourage my friends to return to burlesque. I would like a refund for the nine tickets which we bought through Groupon. I can provide you with booking number and receipt if required. I hope to hear from you asap.
