Review of Jerboa With Special Guests
Bar tender was helpful and friendly.
Sound man was missing a good part of the evening, certainly through all of The Thing Is set, and didn't do his job. The singer had to ask for assistance from the stage.
One of the bands walked out while the next band had just started.

Review of JohnsysShots Presents: Alex Windrow Independent Venue Week
The Round the Corner Bar hosted a terrific evening's entertainment from Alex and his band, The Vandals. Loud yet delicately boisterous, the band's repertoire was filled with Alex's clever compositions. These ranged from one tune with melodic shades reminiscent of the Goo Goo Dolls's classic, Iris ("I was channelling the Goo Goo Dolls with that one," Alex confided the writer at the show's end) to more complex, chord-riffing jazz-styled compositions that mesmerise with their quick, shifting verse and choral sequences-often frantically melodic. Two covers were in the mix, though the original band's names were lost on this old-timer whose musical tastes began in the '50s and '60s and wandered to the 90s-just. The individual band members contributed tight accompaniments on bass, drums, and guitar, respectively, each musician having contributed to Alex's original compositions by creating their own instrumentations. Consequently, the Vandals express great performance flare, complimenting Alex's keyboard, synth, and memorable acoustic guitar talents. Alex's enamouring showmanship glued the evening's show together-marked by his low-key but thoughtful scouser-toned patter between numbers. Alex introduces numbers, often with personalised background details, to their meaning or compositional contexts. It was a veritable magical musical show, folks; Alex and The Vandals are a must-see when you get the chance. Be warned: old folks (like me) have earplugs on hand if you're sensitive to music performed WONDERFULY LOUD!
