Christian Cartwright is one of the new generation of organists who brings both a passion for performance and a dedication to the intricate restoration of historic instruments. Alongside his brother, Christopher, he is deeply involved in the renovation of a Christie organ and has restored numerous components of the Tywyn Wurlitzer.

Christian's journey with music began at a very young age. Inspired by visits to the Blackpool Tower Ballroom, he started playing the keyboard at just three years old. His musical progression saw him moving from an electronic organ to the vintage Compton 357 Melotone. In January 1999, he first sat at the console of a theatre organ, the Wurlitzer 3/8 at Burton Town Hall, and has since played a variety of prestigious British and American theatre organs. Notably, he has performed on the 82 rank Wurlitzer at the Organ-Stop Pizza Parlour in Phoenix, Arizona, and the 80 rank Wurlitzer at the Sanfillippo residence in Chicago, Illinois.

As one of the Resident Organists at Tywyn, Christian frequently delights audiences with his performances on the Tywyn Wurlitzer. His deep appreciation for the masters of the instrument, both past and present, is evident in his wide-ranging repertoire and unique interpretations. Influenced by American artists such as Lyn Larsen and Ron Rhode, as well as British icons like Vic Hammett, Phil Kelsall MBE, and Robert Wolfe, Christian brings his own distinct style to each performance.

Christian's academic achievements include a Bachelor of Science degree from Staffordshire University. Beyond music, he has a keen interest in steam and traction engines, classic cars, and model railways. His latest CD, “Tuned Up 3!”, featuring performances on the Pipes in the Peaks Compton, is available for purchase.
