Review of JCM: Clem Clempson, Mark Clarke, Ralph Salmins
JCM predictably brilliant performance: what else when the great Clem Clempson is the guitarist, and a very decent stand-in drummer from Deutschland. The 100 Club is, however, a total dump and should be closed at the earliest opportunity. It's always too hot in spite of the fact that the air-con was supposedly completely overhauled a few years ago. The sight-lines are awful and the bar prices ridiculously high. On top of that, poor Clem C. had to announce that the management had insisted that the band's first set was to be confined to just half an hour. What a complete joke, particularly as there was no support act. Presumably this was some devious attempt to whack up bar takings. I have no intention of going there again.

Review of Baby Shakes
I was unsure how good Baby Shakes would be live, having only seen a couple of youtube clips and likening them to bands out if NYC in the late 70s. I was not disappointed!! They had the image, stage presence and good songs of their own. They threw in a few very well chosen covers that included Heart of the City, the Nick Lowe song, no doubt penned in Brentford down the road and then in the encore a refreshing the Undertones' I Just Can't Get Over You. It was a great gig and the intimacy of the 100 Club is exactly where you want to be for a band like this. Catch them before they get too big for the small club circuit!

Review of The Korgis
A fantastic concert with the band on top form. Good to see James and Glen again ( ex - Stackridge ) and to hear some Stackridge songs in addition to the Korgi's classics / hits. Really enjoyed the seg wave ' Something about the Beatles ' and the Sgt Pepper track ' A Day in the Life '. The new songs, were also excellent.
Must see them again.

Review of The Primitives
Advertised as a "Lovely 30th Anniversary" tour, the setlist was actually a mixture of 50% old songs and 50% new. They did not play the whole album, missing out several songs (Shadow, Ocean Blue). Their catalogue is good enought to hold up, however. They played for 75 minutes, including the one encore of three songs. Support was good (Young Romance). The venue is very much "old school", small and intimate, but the posts are a pain. The concert took off around 3/4 of the way, at the time of Nothing Left, but I felt that was when the beer kicked in on the largely mature audience.
