CHICAGO BLUES EXPLOSION! is an all-star Chicago Blues spectacular featuring the finest Chicago Blues musicians who are flying in directly to appear at the January Blues Festival.
With a line up hand-picked and put together in collaboration with the January Blues Festival and leading blues harmonica player Giles Robson, this is the ultimate celebration of Chicago Blues.
Three-time Grammy nominated artist and American blues legend John Primer was the bandleader and guitarist for Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon and Magic Slim. Having played or recorded with a who's who of blues greats including Junior Wells, Gary Clark Jr., Derek Trucks, Johnny Winter, The Rolling Stones and Buddy Guy to name a few, John Primer's personal accolades, including a Lifetime Achievement Award, reflect his countless contributions to the history of Chicago blues.
Alligaor Records recording artist Toronzo Cannon performs his debut London shows at the January Blues Festival. Gary Clark, Jr. declared, "Toronzo is a beast. He lights the room up," and Joe Bonamassa rightly pronounced, "Toronzo's a great guitar player, excellent vocalist and an amazing personality."
Another UK debut comes from Nora Jean Wallace a.k.a. Nora Jean Bruso, a Chicago Blues vocalist who Koko Taylor declared is "One of the new upcoming women that’s singing the real blues."
Oscar Wilson is the vocalist with the Cash Box Kings, a Chicago Blues group who specialise in Chicago Blues from the 1940s and 1950s, as well as Delta Blues style music from the 1920s and 1930s.
Giles Robson is a multi award winning blues harmonica virtuoso and is the only European artist to sign with Chicago's Alligator Records. He is only one of THREE UK blues artists alongside Eric Clapton and Peter Green to win a coveted Blues Music Award in Memphis.
