Review of Slimelight March
Another great night for Slimes at The Electrowerkz, my favourite venue. A significant improvement musically on recent events, featuring more recognisable goth / post-punk classics. Spent most of the evening dad-dancing on the middle floor ("Goth Floor") with like-minded individuals (you know who you are! Classic goth dancers of the world unite!).
It would be nice to have heard a few more classics (Cult, Ministry, White Zombie, Killing Joke escaped my notice, and I was dancing in there for 80% of the night, although we arrived late at 11pm owing to the usual tiresome train cancellation nonsense), but it was awesome to throw shapes to Sisters, NIN and Prodigy goodness. Overall a great selection (no Joe The Waiter these days?)
Couldn't face the Live Room this time (EBM / dark techno) and managed 5 minutes on the Top Floor (erm, EBM / dark techno)... I've no interest in performers or hosts, just want to chat with mates and feel the vibe.
Great atmosphere, everyone super-friendly as ever. Fabulous outfits, goth / alt heaven.
My impression from chat is that drinks prices have gone up this year which is unfortunate. Ticket prices are still very fair, however, hence 4* rather than 3* for pricing.
Issues with the lavatories included a few broken door locks, but aside from that the cleanliness was impressive, as was the availability of bog roll.
Special thanks to the staff for being wonderfully friendly and cool. High five to Neil from Eternia who searched me on the door, the person who checks tickets, Ru, and lovely Michael for not laughing when I tripped over The Step (everyone knows The Step. The light running beneath it is very necessary and excellent).

Review of Slimelight February Freaky Friday
It wasn’t as busy as usual but I blame the train strikes for that. Considering there was less people there the security staff were kind of annoying. Too many of them milling about and getting in everybody’s way. No need to have that many. It was distracting and annoying. Slimelight has always been drama free. Having so many security staff roaming around “hunting” for issues was a buzzkill
