About

JD Malat Gallery is excited to present "Simeti to Yamato: The Rhythms of Abstraction," from July 24 to September 7. This exhibition unites the works of renowned abstract artists Turi Simeti, Peter Halley, Ugo Rondinone, Ed Moses, and Damien Hirst with pieces by emerging talents Andy Moses, Katrin Fridriks, Luis Olaso, Santiago Parra, and Mio Yamato. The show captures the dynamic interplay of color, shape, and rhythm across 50 years of abstraction, showcasing both historical and contemporary perspectives.

The exhibition juxtaposes various movements, from 'Light and Space' and 'Zero' to 'Neo-Conceptualism,' highlighting the innovative approaches of each artist. Key pieces include Ed Moses’ experimental mark-making, Halley's geometric precision, Simeti's minimalist elegance, Rondinone's multimedia depth, and Hirst’s dynamic motifs. These artworks, some publicly displayed for the first time, offer collectors a unique opportunity.

Jean-David Malat, the gallery’s founder, notes the exhibition's role in fostering dialogue between established masters and rising stars, emphasizing the shared potential for innovation and recognition. The fusion of historical and modern abstract art underscores the enduring significance of rhythm in visual arts, celebrating both the legacy and future of abstract and geometric art.
