A Saturday night of Son Jarocho fusion, traditional Mexican sounds, Caribbean dancing grooves and Spanish rumba flirt at Jamboree with the brilliant Chapulines!
Ghent-based Latin/folk band Chapulines bring ample Mexican flavours in a lively fusion of cultures and genres. Beginning with the Mexican 'son jarocho' folk music, the band is further inspired by Caribbean rhythms and sounds such as Cumbia, Merengue, Punta Garífuna, Son Cubano and Spanish Rumba. With musicians from Mexico, Spain, Cuba and Belgium, the band presents and acoustic, powerful and danceable variety of their own compositions and idiosyncratic interpretations of traditional music.
DJ CArlitos Nino will also keep the dancefloor moving. From Colombia, he showcases a fusion of Latin American music with a London twist. His remixes are influenced by world music, connecting a community to a selected component of its past whilst giving meaning to the present. Expect to hear a selection connecting Latin roots with the modern new wave of global beats, mixed with Cumbia, Tropical Bass, Afro-latin roots, Salsa Brava, Folktronica, Dance, Funk, Disco and Urban denbow, mashups and popular rhythms!
Jamboree Food Option: Our ‘Arepatoire’ kitchen is open from 6pm serving a delicious mix of Italian/Colombian food for you to enjoy a pre-gig meal/snack if you wish!
