On Friday December 6th we welcome the 9-piece mini-orchestra shunTA! to Jamboree! With their relentlessly upbeat musical tour of the Balkans, they are one of London's most exciting party bands, their slick, high tempo, thumping take on Romani and Eastern European folk tunes, anthems and singalongs creating a maelstrom of jumping, sweaty, whirling bodies on the dancefloor everywhere they go!
shunTA! means “Listen up!” in Romani. The band includes a horn section (trumpet, clarinet, sax, sousaphone), string section (mandolin, tambura, violin), piano, drums, darbuka, and big, big vocals - comprising of a feast of non-stop Balkan Bacchanalia! Bring your singing voice and your dancing shoes. The band have had a fantastic couple of years, rocking festival stages up and down the country and supporting international touring artists Fanfare Ciocarlia, Kultur Shock, Shantel and the Turbans. Tonight they launch their first album, 'Balkanalia'.
In support, Howlin’ Mat is a nomadic solo blues artist who has played everywhere from the Sahara to the North Pole, receiving credits from the likes of John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin) and Mud Morganfield (son of Muddy Waters). Also see his Cigar Box Social Guitar-Making Workshop that takes place earlier in the afternoon.
Also, our ‘Arepatoire’ kitchen is open from 6pm serving a delicious mix of Italian/Colombian food for you to enjoy a pre-gig meal/snack if you wish!
