About

DEAD SPACE CHAMBER MUSIC (DSCM) are a gothic / experimental / doom band from Bristol, UK. They reinterpret historical material, taking forms and melodies that are hundreds of years old and shape-shifting them into new and varied contemporary works. Drawing on many musical approaches including improvisation and use of 'found sounds', and with vocals spanning medieval Middle English, Latin and Welsh, they incorporate elements of dark ambient, post-industrial, avant-classical, sacred chant and dark-folk in their powerful and atmospheric music.

DSCM founded the award winning independent live event series Dark Alchemy in 2017, playing and hosting other artists in crypts and churches. They are earning increasing acclaim for their compelling and ceremonial live shows having to date shared bills with The Danse Society, Cold in Berlin, Nero Kane (IT), Maud the Moth, Hawthonn, Kariti (IT/RUS), Khost, Deep Cross (USA), Some Became Hollow Tubes (members of thisquietarmy & Godspeed You! Black Emperor), Kate Arnold, Bonnacons of Doom, Nocturnal Emissions and Rose McDowell amongst others. They have toured the UK with internationally acclaimed composer and virtuoso cellist Jo Quail, and with hackedepicciotto (Alexander Hacke of Einstürzende Neubauten & Danielle de Picciotto of Crime and the City Solution). They have also collaborated creatively with several of these artists.

In 2023 DSCM’s “atmospheric and traditional choral reinterpretations” were referenced amongst contemporary gothic-tinged bands of note in the final chapter of John Robb’s book ‘The Art of Darkness - The History of Goth’.In 2024 DSCM played their first festival set at Ritual Union Festival, Bristol, and began playing DJ sets for Dark Alchemy’s new experimental / industrial / dark ambient club night, THROB.

Personnel for this show: Tom Bush (guitar), Ekaterina Samarkina (drums / percussion) and Ellen Southern (voice, psaltery, percussion & found sounds).

FUTURES WE LOST is the dark post-industrial, cinematic techno soundscape of electronic artist and producer Doug Gordon. Rising from the ashes of 2020’s grief and inspired by the artist’s ancestral roots under the crumbling mills and industrial scars of the northern English landscape; this self-titled upcoming debut album explores these post-industrial graveyards and dystopian future visions through the lens of our present day neo technological horrors. Sometimes a brutalist techno monolith to this mechanised slavery nightmare, sometimes a dark ambient soundtrack to the distortion and living death of our dreams. A sonic memorial to all those futures we lost…

Futures We Lost sound is formed from live hardware synthesiser performances, alongside programmed drum machines and samplers.

SEAMING TO is a composer, vocalist, multi instrumentalist and producer. For this show she will be performing with her family band.

Hailing from a family of concert pianists and having studied at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, she gained early recognition there performing with the supergroups Homelife (Ninja Tune) and 808 State’s Graham Massey’s Toolshed.

Seaming has been described as “the voice of the 21st century” (BBC Radio 1) and an artist who is truly ‘avant-garde’ (Robert Wyatt). Her experimental ethos and mastery across a variety of instruments have enabled her to collaborate with some of the most respected and radical artists of this decade, particularly in electronic, classical, and experimental genres, including Robert Wyatt, Jean Claude Vannier, The Cinematic Orchestra, The Herbaliser, Punchdrunk Theatre, James Ford (SMD), and Leila (Warp).

Seaming has composed music for notable film and theatre productions and worked with filmmakers and artists such as Victoria Keddie, Cam Archer, and Saodat Ismailova. Her musical compositions have been performed and showcased at prestigious venues, including the Queen Elizabeth Hall (QEH) at South Bank, the National Theatre, Tate Modern, the Barbican in London, and MoMA in New York. Seaming’s discography includes Sodaslow EP, Mermaid EP, Seaming (Lumin), Natural Process EP (Lo Recordings), and her second solo album, Dust Gatherers (OSingAtMe Recordings).

“One of the most captivating, unclassifiable performers on the scene.” The Financial Times

“An astonishing vocalist of haunting emotional power” - The Guardian

“Seaming’s vocal styling is impressively kaleidoscopic; haunting at times, vulnerable at others offering a desolate calm..both a moving, virtuoso conversion.”
