Pop Up Pirates

It's yet to be decided if Pop Up Pirates, a new art-installation-slash-DJ-bar with links to The Book Club and Queen of Hoxton, is occupying the premises on a temporary basis (as the name suggests), or if they are actually here to stay (which hopefully they are). Regardless of its unconfirmed future, at present, the renovation work carried out at Pop Up Pirates gives it the qualities of a surreal dreamscape. The whole space, which is spread over two floors, is entirely covered in colourful, happy, cheerful lettering, both arranged to create words like ‘zing’, ‘ice cold’, ‘your uncle’, and as standalone wondrous letters from exuberant Yo Gabba Gabba!-inspired typesets.
