Reviews of St Mark's Church Hall in London

St Mark's Church Hall venue information

After our last rampant edition of Reach For The Bunting, we are back on January 26th to celebrate all things Scottish in true style and panache. It’s Burns night and we think Rabbie would want nothing less than us stuffing our faces with haggis, washing it down with some whisky and then dancing the night away until we all fall down.

To kick things off in style, a full Burns ceremony will be laid out for you and led by Master Storyteller and Balladeer, Anthony Robertson – the Heir to Scotland’s most prestigious Traveller Family of singers and tellers. Anthony is a wealth in Scots Lore and a Burns specialist. Alongside him will be more tellings from James Morgan and music from Peter Shepheard – an authority on Scots tunes and Folklore, and founder member of the Traditional Music and Song Association of Scotland (TMSA). This will make for a most privileged, authentically traditional and immensely entertaining Burns Supper.

BURNS SUPPER MENU

STARTER: Scotch Broth with homemade oatcakes (vg)

MAIN: Haggis, neeps & tatties (or vegetarian haggis) with a whisky gravy

DESSERT: Cranachan (Scottish raspberries, cream and shortbread)

Finished off with a Speyside Whisky nip.

After dinner, we have radical new (ish) group The Ceilidh Liberation Front present a night of sweat-busting abandon. Breaking down ceilidh conventions, the CLF will be bringing their wildest of subverted dances and party tunes to fling you across the dance floor, into the bar and back onto your feet again.

Bring your best dancin’ shoes as you’re sure to need them.

Who needs lasers Reach for the Bunting. Safe as folk.
