Understanding Emotional Dysregulation with Dr Chris Brown
Emotion regulation is a vital yet intricate skill that shapes our ability to navigate life’s challenges. How do we stop negative emotions from becoming overwhelming? And how can we ensure that pleasurable emotions align with the context, avoiding potential long-term consequences? Not all emotion regulation strategies are adaptive in every situation, and learning the right techniques for the right moment is key to maintaining balance.
In this talk, we’ll delve into the diverse strategies people use to regulate emotions in their daily lives and uncover the neuropsychological mechanisms that underpin them. We’ll also explore how difficulties in developing these skills can contribute to addictive behaviors and mental health challenges, shedding light on why effective emotion regulation is essential for overall well-being.
