DEDEPPA/HIRST BAND (LIVE)!!! Sat Feb 15 (1pm-6pm) - Latin Jazz Brunch Live continues it’s weekly strictly good time salsa-fantastic, latin-spired sessions up on the roof. Your LJBL host and selector supreme DJ JOHN ARMSTRONG joined by the truly outstanding, afro tinged latin jazz ensemble The DEPPA/HIRST BAND (LIVE) who’ll be dropping 2 red hot and well cool sets up on the roof at The CLF Art Lounge & Roof Garden 🔥💃🏽🌴 

Expect an all afternoon session where we come together, eat, drink and be seriously, joyfully entertained. You know where to come.

THE CLAUDE DEPPA & CLARE HIRST BAND (Band on stage around 2pm, performing a minimum of 2 live sets)

This new lineup has been working together for the last year, having just finished recording a new album “Beyond Bahula” which was released in June 2024. It consists of 8 original tracks written by Clare and Claude. Spanning influences from Abdullah Ibrahim and Julian Bahulah to Ornette Coleman and beyond, the band is high energy and the township grooves will have the audience jumping to their feet.

LINE UP: Claude Deppa - trumpet / Clare Hirst - sax / Miles Danso Double - bass / Siemi Di -  drums / Paul Weinreb piano

Between them they have worked for a wide variety of musicians including Carla Bley, Andy Shepherd, Brotherhood of Breath, David Bowie,Courtney Pine and Pharaoh Sanders. The music is dizzyingly eclectic incorporating African, Afro-Cuban, Jazz, improvised, soul and funk. A good time to be had by all.
