Review of Guy J Presents: We Are Lost
The music was awesome as usual, no words needed. Guy J and Eli Nissan mixed (I really mean it) on 4 channels. Only. I was there close to the booth and I saw with my own eyes. Guy J, needless to say, turned himself into the god of electronic music and the place into the electronic music temple. The venue was AAAAMAAAAZIIIIIING!!! I mean it. Place, location, easy access, layout of the venue, all really cool stuff. The view over the financial district of London and the cable car in sight, that was fantastic. The summer sunset again!! But, and here comes my but. The sound disappointed me. I believe the sound gear was old or poor in performance, the sound lacked that bwam bvuw punch thing. That deep profound thing that when the sound hits you don't know what is happening, you don't know which train hit you, that thing that you feel how the sound enters to every molecule and cell of your body, every fibre of your muscles, and your lungs vibrate into your chest, that thing that your being is absorbed and dipped into the terror of the brutal sound. This thing........... it lacked. And it is curious because the speakers were big in size and many in numbers. And I am not talking about loudness, no, but that punch. It was not there. Aaaaaand... the sound somehow was not calibrated to the space of the venue. It was reverberating into so many spots, it was not pleasant. The only area that you could actualy feel the full magic of the sound and a correct calibration without distortion was small, a few square meters in the very centre of the venue. Such a pitty. Will I attend again? Yes, the whole thing was magic. But I will not put my expectations into the technical side of the soundsystem.
