Donny Hathaway's Birthday Party

In 2024, Donny Hathaway would have been turning 79 years of age. In celebration of one of the most iconic soul musicians of all time, AGMP Concerts are presenting a special one-off night in dedication to Donny Edward Hathaway with a live performance from The Magnificent Sanctuary Band featuring Paul Lee under the musical direction of Ciyo Brown.

Donny Hathaway started his career as a songwrter and producer at Curtis Mayfield's Curtom label. His debut single 'The Ghetto' was a hit in 1969. Aside from his solo material Donny Hathaway also recorded with Roberta Flack, who was an old college friend of his. Stevie Wonder was quoted as saying "When Donny sings any song, he owns it". Alicia Keys described his recordings as "part of the foundation of American soul music". Justin Timberlake called him "the best singer of all time" and Amy Winehouse nominated Donny as her favourite artist ever.
