Band on the Wall welcomes back legendary drum n’ bass night SPELLBOUND for a Christmas celebration

In the late 90’s, when the new sounds of jungle and drum n’ bass were transforming the musical landscape, Band on the Wall looked to incorporate this new music into their repertoire, Inviting SPELLBOUND to come and be the first outside promotion to work with the venue. The first but not the last, as Band on the Wall went on to offer a home to numerous dance and electronic related music events. The late 90’s were a time of much experimentation within Manchester’s beats orientated music scenes, with musicians working with various DJ’s and promoters across the city, a culture which continues to this day and a culture that Band on the Wall was pivotal in developing.. 

Spellbound operated at numerous venues, from Kaleida {now Matt and Phred’s] and Planet K, right up to Manchester Academy but Band on the Wall was always Spellbound’s spiritual home and the venue that revellers remember most fondly, in part because of the fantastic sound system and acoustics that facilitated live jazz improvisation alongside the runaway train that was the sound of Jungle.
