Bureau is a new, purpose-built gallery, which launched in March 2006. Based in Salford / Manchester, UK, the gallery opened with Imperial, Seb Patane’s first solo show. To date, Bureau has worked with a number of international artists and organisations, including: Can Altay, Oliver Bancroft, Clio Barnard, Book Works, Jacob Cartwright, Karin de Jong, Ben Dodd, Freek Drent & Stella van Voorst van Beest, Film & Video Umbrella, Tony Garifalakis, Ori Gersht, Dave Griffiths, Irene Hanenbergh, Esther Johnson, Jeroen Jongeleen, Christian Krupa, Hyewon Kwon, Mike Marshall, Modern: Markus Rummens & Jorn de Vries, Berit Nørgaard, Vinca Petersen, Margaret Salmon, and Ewoud van Rijn.
Delivering a minimum of six shows a year, ranging across all media, the gallery promotes dynamic and exciting new work by emerging and established artists, from the UK and internationally. Bureau also works on collaborative projects with other international galleries and arts organisations.
Complimentary to the exhibitions programme, Bureau regularly commissions new work and critical writing, houses a unique library of artists’ film & video and publication projects, and presents performances, screenings, symposiums and off-site events.
