Presenting...
Gemma Lees 8:00-8:30pm
Experience the evolution of Cut It Out And Smash It Up, an interactive performance blending poetry, visual art, and audience participation. Previously, this piece involved smashing plates inscribed with poetry about homelessness while the audience created cut-up poems.
Now, it’s being reimagined into a dynamic cabaret-style event, featuring live painting and graffiti on paper-covered walls. Audience members are invited to join in, helping to create live, ever-changing poems throughout the performance.
Decolonial Dogs 8:45-9:20pm
Join us for SIREN BLUES, a live performance that delves into the lived experience of immigrant fear triggered by the sound of a police siren, blurring the lines between public and private spheres. We're excited to present this innovative work-in-progress at our scratch night, offering a raw and thought-provoking glimpse into these themes.
Rex Cherry 9:30-10pm
After a bit of a hiatus, this artist is thrilled to dive back into their drag performance with renewed passion and creativity.
Eager to reignite their love for the art form, they're using this Scratch Night as a chance to reconnect with their craft and seek valuable feedback.
About Scratch:
Taking place on the last Thursday of every month until April 2025, Short Supply's Scratch Nights at Mirage Bar offer a monthly dedicated space for live artists and performers to test out new and developing ideas.
These events are a chance for creatives to show their stuff in front of a live and supportive audience, with a social afterwards to network and receive feedback!
The vibe will always be informal, and you'll get a unique look into the world of local artists, watching them test ideas in real time, experiment, take risks and share their new work with peers and the public. You'll have the opportunity to network with artists and guests and contribute your ideas and feedback to help performers develop.
There will be three performances at each event from 8-9:30pm and a social with DJs from 10-11pm.
Mirage Bar is a fully wheelchair accessible venue via a permanent ramp and has an accessible indoor toilet.
