Operated by The workers co-operative n.i.a.m.o.s, The Playhouse is a large, fully-accessible, purpose-built theatre. built in 1902, Jewel in the Crown of musical eras,owned by the BBC in 1960's, Grade II listing beatles first live broadcast closed in 1985 re-opened in 1991 THE NIA African Arts Centre Nina Simone played opening night The theatre closed in 1997. We are now a community co-operative of Musicians Artists and Event Production community members.
