CRESCENT HOSTS SALFORD REDISCOVERED – JOIN THE PARTY!

This June, the team behind the hugely successful Rediscovering Salford project, which took place across 2020 - 2022, are coming together to deliver a one-day event to celebrate the end of the extensive cultural programme of activity which connected and engaged with Salford’s green spaces.

Following the installation of The University of Salford’s new Chancellor, Salford Rediscovered, will take place from 4pm – 10pm on Thursday 16th June at various locations across Crescent.

There are over 20 workshops, interventions, installations and events taking place throughout the evening both indoors and out.

Some of the highlights include; artist-led tours of The Storm Cone augmented reality experience, a live workshop with visual artist Lowri Evans, a DIY Theatre performance on the Peel Park steps, as well as brand-new exhibitions in the New Adelphi Atrium and a very special appearance from Cheddar Gorgeous as Madam Mort!

The Crescent Lawn will be home to a Food and Drink tent hosted by Grub MCR with a selection of delicious local street food to complement the live music and DJ’s playing throughout the evening.

Salford Museum and Art Gallery will be staying open late on the day, with a last chance to see the You Belong Here exhibition alongside a sneak preview of the new, Salford Open exhibition.

This free event is an opportunity for the people of Salford to engage with green spaces and culture in their city. All are welcome.

This is the first event delivered by the wider Crescent team, a joint venture between the English Cities Fund, University of Salford and Salford City Council.

The Crescent masterplan brings together the best of the public and private sector to bring forward a truly connected, sustainable and inclusive Salford for the future, through the delivery of over 3,000 homes, over 1m sq ft of space to innovate and collaborate, alongside 1m sq ft of offices, retail, leisure, a new multi-modal transport hub with active travel at its heart, set within vast areas of green space.

Crescent will also create up to 7,000 new jobs, with more than £90m expected to be reinvested into local communities, through new revenue from business rates realised on completion of the scheme.
