Review of The John Fairhurst Band

The Eagle Inn is a very small venue with a clever stage & audience area that means you're up close to the band or above on the mezzanine. John Fairhurst obviously loved this intimacy and played the best gig I've ever seen (6th time I've seen him now). He's a truly awesome guitarist backed by a brilliant drummer, Toby 'Bang'. If you never saw Hendrix live, this is the closest you'll ever get to his talent and inventiveness, but John adds his own style, tricks and jaw-dropping, very passionate, very individual approach. We all agreed that we were in the presence of greatness!

Jess certainly knows how to put on a great evening of entertainment. Once again, great support artists building up to the climax of the video launch of yet another great song "Vondel Park" and if that wasn't enough, Jess and the band, Sam, Luke and Matt, finished the evening off with another brilliant set of crowd favourites from their long list of hits and the bonus of what to expect with their next release. A thoroughly brilliant, enjoyable night.

I thought I knew all of the good little venues in Manchester, but I was wrong. A little jewel.
Excellent sound and good support acts followed by Jess introducing the VondelPark video which was well received.
The band followed this with a great set which left everyone smiling.
A very enjoyable Thursday night.
