Reel Resistance is a series of screenings and panel discussions held at Old Abbey Taphouse showcasing radical films. 

This month we have a triptych of short films about community activism in Hulme:

  1. Hi High Rise – A short art film that challenges preconceptions of tower block living in Hulme
  2. The Spirit of Hulme – Made in 2017 , we screen the last 25 minutes, which focuses on local campaigns and campaigners
  3. Dancing in the Ruins – An abstract art film capturing the former Crescents, and the squat/punk/art scene in Hulme
We want to bring together local residents, students and activists to explore our shared history of Mancunian activism.
