About

Martin is the Artistic Director of Manchester Chamber Concerts Society, and we welcome him back to open the Manchester Chamber Concerts Society’s season with his friend Peter Donohoe. It is no overstatement to say these are two of the world’s most renowned pianists: Peter won the Tchaikovsky Piano Competition in 1982, and Martin has made over 600 broadcasts, including seven BBC Proms appearances. They have been playing as a duo since their student days and are renowned for their concerts as a musical pair. Donohoe and Roscoe play separate pianos, allowing each player the full range of the keyboard, and doubling a single keyboard’s possibilities. Their programme includes Rachmaninov’s Suite No 2 which was composed at the same time as his second piano concerto, and the relationship between the two works is instantly recognisable.
