Pineapple Black Contemporary Art Space, located in the Hill Street Shopping Centre, the renovated and re-imagined space (previously New Look) showcases work from seminal Northern and international artists alike.
The gallery consists of three exhibition spaces: a main exhibition area, a 24/7 viewable gallery window, currently exhibiting Get Gone by Michael Davies, and The Changed Rooms, a space intended to be used for proposals and collectives. Pineapple Black also provides a range of studios, project areas and conference rooms for the benefit of artists.
Through the provision of adaptable exhibition and collaboration space, Middlesbrough’s new gallery aims to be much more than a traditional house of art. It’s also establishing itself as a driving force of artistic innovation and a promoter of local talent, setting up engagement points between artists, their work, the public and the region itself.
