Hoochie Coochie venue information
We are only 100 yards from the city’s most important street, Grey Street & very close the the theatre Royal. Located on Pilgrim Street which runs parallel to Grey Street, we are opposite the iconic old Fire/Police station.
Opened in 2011, Hoochie Coochie was designed for people who love black music, want to dance, enjoy great drinks and see incredible live artists up close & personal in an intimate, clean & smart environment. Many of the artists we book would rarely perform in such an intimate venue, right here in the heart of Newcastle.
On a chilled Jazz night we have candle-lit tables. For live Funk and Soul gigs, we clear the space for you to get up close to the action. When there’s no live music, we play the best in Funk, Soul and Jazzy vibes creating a space for you to get your groove on. A limited number of private booths are also available, with the best vantage point. Booths are bookable at a small premium along with your gig tickets.
We have the widest, wildest range of spirits in town as well as great bottled and draught beers. Extensive Champagne and Wine lists are available too. So come to Hoochie Coochie and try something different. For us though, it’s all about the music and we prefer to play the warm sound of vinyl, whenever possible. While different nights may emphasis a particular genre of music, we always want to mix it up a little to keep our customers interested all night long.
